Hi there! 👋 I'm Jonathan Picazo. I learn new technologies and teach others to be better developers.
Summary
I am a full-stack web developer with a track record of creating effective programs and projects quickly, and without sacrificing quality or client needs.
I am a lifelong learner committed to staying current on new technologies. Lately, I've been focusing on:
I am a team player willing to take the lead on executing tasks and experimenting with new ideas.
About
I am working as a Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual on diverse teams with both old and new technologies.
My unique background in game design is what led me to pursue a career in software engineering and web development.
My favourite games were text-based. I studied the entire Lua scripting manual to become better at roleplay and combat. Check out my favourite MUD client which uses Lua as its scripting engine.

Projects
I have many projects both personal and professional, all of which I am proud of.
My favourite projects are open-source. Contributions are what make the open source community such an amazing place to learn, inspire, and create.
Showbunny is a web and mobile app built using vanilla HTML, CSS and Javascript that allows viewing and tracking information on trending movies and TV shows. I built it with my kitty friend.
I participated in Hacktoberfest by adding a number of issues to encourage open-source collaboration on Showbunny. I then contributed to other projects which won me a free teeshirt!
Swaap is a web and mobile app built to facilitate connections at events. I fully designed, implemented, and documented the backend using Apollo GraphQL and Prisma.
I took great care to mentor other junior members of my team while fostering a safe environment for them to work in.
